The kids at Liberty love Mr. Manley, the custodian at Liberty Middle School. Some say he is their favorite staff member at this school. Mr. Manley has had a long journey at this school. He has been working for 9 – 10 years as a custodian. Mr Manley has had some pretty good memories and some bad ones. His favorite thing about working here is interacting with the kids. Mr Manley talks to a lot of this kids and treats them all equally. At lunch, he does a good job working, but that does not distract him from talking to the kids. Mr Manley will always make time to have a conversation. He loves the kids here at Liberty like they are his own. Although it seems he has had all good things happen here, there are some bad things. Mr. Manley’s least favorite thing about his job is cleaning throw up. When he gets a call that someone has thrown up, he does not have a smile on his face. He loves the kids and this job, but when it comes to throw up, Mr. Manley does not like it. That does not stop him from his job though. Mr. Manley will do anything that he has to to show that he is a good custodian.
As a kid growing up, Mr. Manly always wanted to be a teacher like his parents. He wanted to follow their path in the teaching department. He came here hoping to be a teacher but ended up being a custodian. Mr. Manley became a custodian because he needed the money and benefits to support his kids. He comes in early and stays late just to make sure that this school is clean and ready for the next day. He gets the money he deserves for working so hard day to night. Students help mr Manley clean up the cafeteria after lunch, by wiping tables, pushing in chairs, sweeping the floors, and picking up after themselves. Mr. Manley is a hard-working guy and treats the kids well. The kids love him and respect him and his job.
