A new school year comes with eight new house council members.
Liberty Middle School’s new house council members are Cecelia Blind, Jack Breihan, Anna Brynildsen, Austin Ferrari, Adilyn Gross, Amelie Kennedy, Emilee Simpson, and Matthew Wilson.
There are multiple different reasons why people wanted to be a house council member, some of the main reasons are ‘I like the whole house system, and I knew I could be a good leader and role model,’’ said Austin Ferrari. Cecelia Blind said, “I wanted to be a house council member because I thought it would be fun to try, and I like being a role model to others.”
During dens, every week house council members go around and check on others dens to see if they need help. In the days before dens they brainstorm about what to do for dens and try to make dens as fun as possible for the other students.
Den leaders face some challenges such as “going in front of a big crowd. I overcome with knowing the fact that a lot of the other house council are my friends,” said Emilee Simpson
“I had to figure out ways to get people’s attention and make sure they are doing the right thing. I overcome it by talking to my den leaders and asking what I needed from them and what they needed from me,” Adilyn said.
If you want to be a house council member here are some recommendations from the current house council. “I recommend that it takes patience, commitment, and self-respect.’ From Matthew Wilson and “I recommend knowing that you are not alone, and it is a fun activity and make sure that you are a good role model and that you are meeting expectations,” Austin added.
